ADAS calibration

ADAS calibration to manufacturer specs

The cameras and radar behind lane-keep, emergency braking, adaptive cruise and blind-spot alerts have to be aimed to a fraction of a degree. We calibrate them after repairs so they work as designed.

Systems we calibrate

ADAS calibration

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems restored to manufacturer specifications after repairs.

Lane departure warning

Forward camera calibration so lane warnings and lane-keep assist track correctly.

Blind-spot monitoring

Rear radar calibration so blind-spot and cross-traffic alerts see what they should.

Adaptive cruise control

Front radar aimed precisely so following distance and emergency braking work as designed.

Camera and sensor alignment

Cameras and sensors realigned after windshield, bumper, alignment or suspension work.

Does your car need a calibration?

Common repairs can knock cameras and radar out of alignment, often with no warning light. Pick a recent repair to see what's usually affected.

Requirements vary by make, model and year. We confirm exactly what your car needs with a diagnostic scan and the manufacturer's repair information.

How it works

No shortcuts. Done right.

Some systems are calibrated in the shop with precise targets (static calibration). Others are calibrated on the road under set conditions (dynamic calibration). Many cars need both.

  1. Scan

Full diagnostic scan and the manufacturer's procedure for your exact car.

  2. Prep

Alignment verified, tires set to spec, ride height and fuel level checked.

  3. Calibrate

Static calibration with targets, a road calibration, or both, as your car requires.

  4. Verify

Post-scan for codes and a road test to confirm every system works as designed.

FAQ

Calibration questions

What is ADAS?

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems: the cameras, radar and sensors behind automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and parking assist. Most cars built in the last several years have at least some of them.

My car seems fine. Why would it need a calibration?

A camera or radar that's off by even one degree can be looking at the wrong lane a short distance down the road, and many cars won't show a warning. If the windshield, bumper, alignment or suspension has been worked on, the manufacturer usually requires the system to be checked or recalibrated.

How long does a calibration take?

Most take one to three hours depending on the car and which systems are involved. Some need a calibration drive on the road, which depends on weather and traffic. We'll give you an estimate when you book.

Will insurance cover it?

When a calibration is required as part of a covered repair, such as a windshield replacement or collision repair, it's typically included in the claim. Ask us and we'll help you sort out what your repair requires.

Do I need an alignment before a calibration?

Often, yes. Cameras and radar are aimed relative to the direction the car actually travels, so if the alignment is out the calibration will be too. We check alignment as part of the prep.
